Burning fuselage spotted in search for missing Russian passenger plane: video
Russia has said that a burning fuselage has been spotted in the search for a missing Angara Airlines An-24 passenger plane.
Efforts to locate the aircraft began on July 24, 2025, when the Angara Airlines plane disappeared from radar and failed to respond to contact in the far east of Russia.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry confirmed that there were about 40 people on board. Local media reports added that those onboard the aircraft included two children and six crew members.
The Antonov turboprop aircraft was travelling from Khabarovsk to Tynda with a stopover in Blagoveshchensk. The search centered on an area several kilometers from Tynda Airport (TYD).
Footage of smoke rising from a dense forest was shared by the Russian Emergencies Ministry. A Rosaviatsia Mi-8 helicopter was first to locate the fuselage.
In the ministry’s latest update on Telegram, it said that more than 50 specialists and 10 units of equipment are involved in efforts to reach the aircraft.
“Rescuers of the Russian Emergencies Ministry are heading to the site of the plane crash through hard-to-reach terrain,” the ministry said.
Russian news agency TASS reported that no survivors have been found at the crash site.
Citing the director of Tynda Airport, TASS said that the plane caught fire on impact and the Mi-8 helicopter reported no signs of life.
According to The Aviation Herald, during a ferry flight in May 2017 the same aircraft, registered RA-47315, depressurized at an altitude of 4,300 meters due to the destruction of the left cockpit window.
