Canary Islands airline Binter orders four ATR 72-600s plus five options
On February 14, 2025, Spanish airline Binter announced the ordering of four additional ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft, with an option for a further five units of the same type in the future.
Binter is already one of the largest ATR operators in the world, with 26 ATR 72-600s in its fleet.
The regional carrier, which also operates one ATR 72-500 as well as 16 Embraer E195 E2s, provides services primarily within the Canary Islands and between the archipelago and the Spanish mainland, as well as some destinations in Portugal and North Africa.
This order represents a €215 million investment, which is being financed by three major Spanish banks: Santander, CaixaBank and BBVA.
Binter has operated ATR turboprops for most of its history, including legacy models which have been progressively replaced by the current ATR 72-600 generation. Since 2022, when the airline was taken over by a consortium of private investors based in the Canary Islands, Binter has invested over €1.1 billion in its fleet renewal and expansion.
The announcement of this new order follows ATR’s presentation on February 12, 2025, of its 2024 annual results, which showed $1.2 billion in revenues and a record 40% increase in orders.
