CH-47 airlift famous “Into the Wild” bus from its location in Alaska backcountry
The Alaska Army National Guard used a CH-47 to airlift an abandoned bus that was made famous by the book and movie “Into the Wild” on Jun. 18.
The subject of the book and movie Christopher McCandless had died there in 1992 and since then, it has attracted adventure seekers to the site.
Local officials decided to remove the bus after five Italian tourists had to be rescued last winter while hiking to the bus and one woman from Belarus died while attempting to reach it.
