Civilian test pilot from U.S. Army flew the S-97
A civilian experimental test pilot hired by the U.S. Army has flown the Sikorsky S-97 Raider on Aug. 19.
Charlie Packard, from the Redstone Test Center, Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC), was the first government pilot to fly the prototype rotorcraft which has a rear propeller to boost its speed in level flight.
On that day, Packard was able to achieve 187 knots during the one hour and 20 minutes flight.
