This boxed set includes all four albums of the “Lady Spitfire” comic book, recounting the adventures of a Frenchwoman in the Royal Air Force during the 1939-1945 war.
Bringing together the volumes “La Fille de l’air”, “Der Henker”, “Une pour tous et tous pour elle” and “Desert Air Force”, this epic takes place mostly in the early days of the Second World War. A young pilot named Laure Chevalier, the daughter of a World War I ace, flees France after the German victory and makes it to England. For her, fighting the enemy forces is a necessity. She soon manages to get in touch with an eccentric squadron leader who gets her into the Royal Air Force (RAF).
As a member of her squadron, she will demonstrate all her qualities and become the first Frenchwoman to join the RAF, taking part in the battle at the controls of a Spitfire – in an all-male world. In the first three volumes, set in the midst of the Battle of Britain in 1940, the reader follows Laure Chevalier, who eventually herself obtains flying ace status for her many exploits. The fourth volume, “Desert Air Force”, recounts the young woman’s adventures two years later in the middle of an arid landscape… What could have happened to her in the meantime?
