Embraer backlog hits record $34.5B as E2 and C-390 orders lift demand

Embraer closed the second quarter of 2026 with a firm order backlog of $34.5 billion, the seventh consecutive quarter in which the Brazilian manufacturer has set an all-time high. The figure, published on July 24, 2026, was up 7% on the $32.1 billion recorded in the first quarter and 16% higher than the $29.7 billion booked in the second quarter of 2025.

Backlog measures contracted work still to be delivered rather than revenue booked, and what stands out in this result is the spread. All four of Embraer’s business units grew year on year, and the company delivered 65 aircraft during the quarter, around 7% more than a year earlier.

E2 program passes 500 firm orders

Commercial Aviation, still the largest of the four units, ended the quarter at $15.1 billion, up 15% year on year. Embraer attributed much of that to Azorra’s firm order for 15 E195-E2s, announced on June 5, 2026, which pushed cumulative firm orders for the E2 family past 500 aircraft worldwide. The division recorded a book-to-bill ratio of 1.8x over the previous 12 months.

Momentum has continued past the quarter’s close. At the Farnborough International Airshow on July 21, 2026, Embraer disclosed that Fuji Dream Airlines was the customer behind an order for two E175s previously listed as undisclosed, a reattribution rather than an addition to the backlog. The manufacturer also booked E2 commitments from Abra Group, Binter and Luxair at the show, none of which fall within the second-quarter figures.

Praetor certifications underpin business jet outlook

Executive Aviation reached $7.8 billion, a more modest 5% year-on-year rise. Embraer pointed to the triple certification of the Praetor 600E by Brazil’s ANAC, the US Federal Aviation Administration and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency on April 30, 2026, followed by the Praetor 500E on June 30, 2026, as supporting the segment’s outlook. Both variants are due to enter service in 2029.

C-390 breaks into the Middle East

Defense & Security posted the sharpest increase, up 42% year on year to $6.1 billion. The driver was the UAE’s C-390 Millennium contract, signed on May 4, 2026, covering 10 firm aircraft with options on 10 more. Embraer describes the deal as the largest international C-390 order placed by a single country and the type’s entry into the Middle East market.

Services & Support reached a record $5.5 billion, up 12%, reflecting a fleet that keeps expanding as deliveries accelerate. The unit signed a long-term support agreement with Canada’s Jazz Aviation during the quarter, alongside a support deal covering the Brazilian Air Force’s KC-390 fleet.
