Embraer E190-E2, E195-E2 granted South African aviation type certification
Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer announced that it has received a type acceptance certification from the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) for its E190-E2 and E195-E2 aircraft.
Embraer said that its receipt of the certification is a further demonstration that its aircraft are a strong fit for the African market.
According to Embraer, its E2 family provides airlines with enhanced operational flexibility by enabling more precise capacity management, optimized frequency planning, and improved network connectivity.
The E190-E2 and E195-E2 represent the most fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft currently in operation, achieving 17.3% and 29% reductions in fuel burn per seat, respectively, relative to first-generation E-Jets.
The announcement follows Airlink’s fleet expansion program, under which the South African carrier has signed a lease agreement with Azorra for 10 Embraer E195-E2s.
