Embraer hits $29.7B backlog record, delivers 61 jets across all units in Q2 2025
Brazilian planemaker Embraer announced a record order backlog of US$29.7 billion in the second quarter of 2025, the highest in the company’s history.
In its financial results released on July 21, 2025, the manufacturer announced that it has delivered 61 aircraft in Q2 of 2025 across all its business units.
This figure represents a 30% increase from Q2 of 2024, when Embraer delivered 47 jets, and more than doubled the 30 aircraft delivered in Q1 of 2025.
Commercial aviation
Embraer’s commercial aviation division announced a record backlog of US$13.1 billion in Q2 of 2025, nearing its previous record of US$13.4 billion set in Q4 of 2017.
The backlog rose by 31% compared to Q1 of 2025 and by 16% from Q2 of 2024. In addition to strong sales, the division marked a significant achievement, selling 1,000 E175 units since its launch in 2005.
During the quarter, Embraer secured a firm order from SkyWest for 60 E175 aircraft, with options for 50 more.
At the same time, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) signed a deal to purchase 45 E195-E2 aircraft, with the right to buy 10 additional units. According to Embraer, this was SAS’s largest direct jet order from a manufacturer in the last 30 years.
In Q2 of 2025, the business unit delivered 19 new aircraft, matching the number delivered during the same period last year. Overall, Embraer’s Commercial Aviation division delivered 26 aircraft in the first half of 2025, achieving 32% of its full-year delivery target midpoint (77 to 85 jets).
The models delivered during this period included the E175 to Republic Airlines, SkyWest, and Horizon Air, the E190-E2 to Azorra, and the E195-E2 to Aercap, Azorra, Mexicana, Royal Jordania, Binter, and ICBC.
Executive aviation
Embraer’s executive aviation division announced a backlog of US$7.4 billion in Q2 of 2025, which is a 62% increase compared to the same period last year, although it shows a slight 2% decrease from the previous quarter.
During this time, the company delivered 38 jets, which is a 41% increase from the 27 jets delivered in Q2 of 2024.
In the first half of 2025, executive aviation deliveries reached a total of 61 aircraft, accounting for 41% of the company’s full-year goal of delivering between 145 and 155 jets.
Defense and security
In the defense and security sector, the backlog reached US$4.3 billion in Q2 of 2025, which is a 3% increase from the previous quarter and double the amount from a year earlier. During this time, the business unit provided four A-29 Super Tucano aircraft to the Paraguayan Air Force.
Key highlights for the division include Lithuania’s announcement that the C-390 Millennium has been chosen to improve the country’s airlifting capabilities, along with Portugal’s choice to purchase a sixth KC-390 Millennium aircraft.
Additionally, Embraer and the Portuguese Air Force plan to add 10 purchase options to their existing contract for possible future acquisitions by European countries or NATO members.
Embraer added that the C-390 Millennium selection by Sweden and Slovakia, the additional order from Portugal, and the A-29 Super Tucano for Panama are not included in the backlog, since the contracts have not yet been finalized.
Services and support
Embraer’s services and support division increased its backlog to US$4.9 billion in Q2 2025, which is a 55% rise compared to the same time last year and a 5% increase from the last quarter.
In the Commercial Aviation sub-segment, the business unit signed a new maintenance contract with CommuteAir for its new facilities at the Perot Field Alliance Airport in Fort Worth, Texas. The division will deploy a new full-flight simulator in Madrid for E2 customers in partnership with CAE.
