Embraer secures finance to export 16 E175s aircraft to Republic Airways
The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) in Brazil has approved finance for Embraer to export 16 E175 aircraft to the US regional carrier Republic Airways.
On January 27, 2024, BNDES confirmed the finance is valued at R$2.1 billion ($413 million) with deliveries expected to take place throughout 2025.
Republic Airways operates more than 200 Embraer E170s and E175 aircraft under major US-airline partner brands of American Eagle, Delta Connection and United Express.
The financing is provided by BNDES Exim Post-Shipment and will cover a portion of the airline’s total investment.
“BNDES’ historic support for Embraer has helped transform the company into one of the global leaders in the aerospace industry. Embraer is Brazil’s leading exporter of high value-added goods and maintains more than 87% of its approximately 21,000 jobs in Brazil,” said BNDES President, Aloizio Mercadante.
Since 1997, BNDES has funded the export of more than 1,300 aircraft from Embraer to the tune of $26 billion.
“BNDES’s work is essential to maintain the competitiveness of Brazilian industry, serving as a tool to boost the country in the international market. This strategic support strengthens our position on the global stage, diversifying financing alternatives and enabling Embraer to compete in the foreign market on equal terms with our competitors,” said the Embraer President and CEO, Francisco Gomes Neto.
