Embraer to equip Aeromexico E190 short-haul fleet with free in-flight Wi-Fi
Embraer has announced a partnership with Viasat for the installation of in-flight internet connectivity on Aeroméxico’s Embraer E190 fleet, providing free Wi-Fi to passengers flying short-haul flights.
High speed satellite connectivity via Viasat’s global Ka-band network will allow Aeromexico passengers onboard these aircraft to stream movies and television, watch live sports, access the internet, send emails, and connect to their social networks while in the sky, Embraer announced in a statement on July 11, 2025.
Andres Castañeda, Chief Digital and Customer Experience Officer & EVP at Aeromexico, said that the airline will become the first and only carrier in Latin America to offer “ad-supported free messaging across our entire network”.
“This means our passengers can stay connected wherever they fly, with the option to purchase internet packages,” Castañeda said.
Carlos Naufel, President and CEO, of Embraer Services & Support, said: “Embraer is constantly working to improve the experience in its wide range of aircraft. Offering connectivity services on Aeromexico’s E-Jets fleet is an important step to provide more comfort to the airline’s customers.”
Currently, six Aeromexico Embraer E190 aircraft are fitted with Viasat’s Wi-Fi technology. The installation of Viasat’s in-flight Wi-Fi solution on the remaining 28 aircraft, bringing the total to 34 E190s, is currently in progress. The Wi-Fi service will be accessible on all of the airline’s E190 aircraft by 2027. The post Embraer to equip Aeromexico E190 short-haul fleet with free in-flight Wi-Fi appeared first on AeroTime.
