Etihad Airways and Air Peace sign interline agreement to expand connectivity

Etihad Airways and Air Peace have signed an interline agreement to connect their networks, giving Etihad passengers access to 20 destinations across Nigeria, West Africa and Central Africa. 

The agreement was announced July 23, 2026, in Lagos.

Under the deal, Etihad guests will be able to book a single ticket that takes them beyond Lagos and Accra and onto Air Peace’s wider network. That includes major Nigerian cities such as Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, Enugu, Benin City, Owerri, Warri, and Asaba, along with regional destinations including Abidjan, Dakar, Banjul, Freetown, Monrovia, Conakry, Bamako, Douala, and Libreville.

Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country and one of its largest economies. Trade between Nigeria and the UAE has picked up since the two countries signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in January 2026. In addition, a growing Nigerian community lives and works across the Emirates, adding another layer of demand for stronger travel links between the two regions.

For Etihad, the agreement builds on an African expansion announced by the airline in April, which includes plans for daily service between Abu Dhabi and Lagos. Once that route launches, passengers will be able to book journeys through Abu Dhabi and continue onward across Nigeria and West Africa using Air Peace’s network.

A shared vision for African travel

Arik De, Chief Commercial and Revenue Officer at Etihad Airways, noted that Nigeria plays a central role in the airline’s long-term plans for the continent. 

“Our ambitions in Africa are long term, and Nigeria sits at the centre of them,” De said, adding that the agreement gives Etihad passengers access to “one of the continent’s most extensive domestic and regional networks”. He suggested that partnerships built with airlines that understand their home markets are central to how Etihad plans to grow in the region.

Nowel Ngala, Chief Commercial Officer at Air Peace, described the agreement as an extension of the airline’s broader mission. “Air Peace has always been about opening doors for Nigerian and West African travellers,” Ngala said. He also noted that the partnership will give Air Peace customers more convenient access to Abu Dhabi once Etihad’s new routes begin, while also providing a gateway for Etihad passengers to the many destinations served by Air Peace across the region.

Combined journeys between the two networks will be bookable through etihad.com once the agreement takes effect.
