Finnair strengthens Southern European network with new destinations in 2026
Finnair will strengthen its Southern European network in summer 2026 with new scheduled flights announced to destinations in Italy and Spain.
On August 29, 2025, the Finnish flag carrier confirmed that next year it would launch summer flights to the Italian cities, Florence and Catania and Spain’s third most populated location, Valencia.
Additionally, Finnair would also schedule flights to the Greek island of Kos, which the airline previously operated as a charter flight.
“Italy, Spain, and Greece are particularly popular with our Finnish and Northern European customers during the summer months. The new destinations complement our Southern European network, offering both beach holidays and culture, and the travel period extends from spring to autumn,” said Christine Rovelli, Finnair’s Chief Revenue Officer.
Details of Finnair’s new flights schedule:
From April 2 to October 18, 2026, flights between Helsinki and Florence will operate twice a week.
From April 11 to October 24, 2026, flights between Helsinki and Valencia will operate twice a week.
From March 31 to October 21, 2026, flights between Helsinki and Catania will operate three times a week.
From May 5 to October 24, 2026, flights between Helsinki and Kos will operate twice a week.
Other locations that are part of Finnair’s summer 2026 Southern European network include Rome, Milan, Naples, Venice, Verona and Bologna in Italy.
Madrid, Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona, Palma, and Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote (Canary Islands) in Spain and Chania, Heraklion, Rhodes and Santorini in Greece.
During summer 2025, Finnair was forced to cancel hundreds of flights due to strike action at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL).
