Hawaiian Airlines axes ‘underperforming’ routes: Boston, Seoul, Fukuoka
Hawaiian Airlines has announced changes to its routes, axing underperforming services in order to redeploy fleet to support and boost other flights.
The airline said, from November 2025, it will suspend services between Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) and the following:
Incheon Airport (ICN) in South Korea (5x weekly)
Fukuoka Airport (FUK) in Japan (3x weekly)
Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) (4x weekly)
Hawaiian said it will redeploy aircraft to boost flights between Honolulu Airport and:
Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD) in Australia (daily from 5x weekly)
Tahiti International Airport (PPT) in Papeete, French Polynesia (twice a week from once weekly starting March 2026)
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) (adding fifth daily flight on peak seasons)
Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA) (adding fourth daily flight from Nov-April)
The airline said that the fleet will also support operations across its Hawaii network.
Hawaiian Airlines CEO Joe Sprague said: “It’s always a difficult decision to suspend a route, especially in cities like Seoul, which we have enjoyed serving for over 14 years. However, despite our team’s best efforts, soft post-pandemic travel demand from Asia combined with various market challenges have persisted in Seoul, as well as in Fukuoka and Boston, both of which we entered in 2019.”
Sprague added: “We remain committed to continuing to provide robust Hawaiian Airlines service between Asia and Hawai‘i through our nonstop Japan flights, and via one-stop connections to and from Incheon and beyond with our global partner airlines. These adjustments will ensure we are meeting strong demand for travel to Hawaiʻi – both internationally and domestically – while providing all our guests access to more destinations.”
