International Airlines Group places order for 76 new Boeing and Airbus aircraft
British-Spanish multinational airline holding company International Airlines Group (IAG) has ordered up to 76 new Boeing and Airbus aircraft.
In a statement released on May 9, 2025, IAG announced that these new aircraft “will enable IAG’s airlines to grow and replace their long-haul fleets with modern, fuel-efficient planes”. IAG confirmed that the aircraft will be delivered between 2028 and 2033.
The order includes 53 new long-haul aircraft: 32 Boeing 787-10s for British Airways, plus 21 Airbus A330-900neos for Aer Lingus, Iberia, or LEVEL.
Additionally, IAG announced options for up to 10 more Boeing 787 aircraft, and up to 13 additional Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.
Of the 53 aircraft suggested, 35 would be used to replace current aircraft or, for LEVEL, to replace short-term leases.
In addition to the replacements mentioned, the new orders will also permit 18 aircraft for growth in IAG’s core markets.
The Airbus A330-900neo aircraft will be powered by Rolls-Royce engines. British Airways’ Boeing 787-10 aircraft will be powered by General Electric engines.
“Looking ahead to the next decade, these new aircraft will enable us to strengthen our core markets and further improve our customer experience, while continuing to drive long-term value for our shareholders,” IAG’s CEO Luis Gallego said.
The latest orders follow those previously placed in March 2025, including six Airbus A350-900s for Iberia, along with six Airbus A350-1000s and six Boeing 777-9s for British Airways. The post International Airlines Group places order for 76 new Boeing and Airbus aircraft appeared first on AeroTime.
