Israeli Air Force’s second F-35 unit is operational
The Israeli Air Force’s second F-35 unit, the 116th Squadron, is now operational. Nicknamed “Lions of the South,” the unit was reactivate in Jan. 16 this year.
In order to be certified operational, members of the squadron had to pass an operational fitness inspection which simulates 72 hours of intensive combat.
“We worked 24 hours a day, nonstop,” said Maj. Edi, the squadron’s technical officer.
