Japan leaning towards building frigate based missile ship to host BMD interceptors
The latest report from Japan on finding an alternative Aegis Ashore solution says Tokyo is now considering building a frigate based missile ship that will host the ballistic missile defense (BMD) interceptors.
The warship is be stripped of other war fighting roles and will require less manpower to operate.
It is likely that the ship will be data linked to the Aegis Ashore radar facility using satellite connection.
A decision is expected by the end of the year.
