JetBlue extends flight suspension to Haiti until June 2025 over security issues
JetBlue Airways will be extending its halt on flights to Toussaint Louverture International Airport (PAP) in Port-au-Prince.
The airline will keep flights suspended until at least June 11, 2025, a spokesperson told Miami Herald on March 6, 2025. Previously, JetBlue had announced that all flights to Haiti would be suspended through to the end of April 2025.
“Due to the ongoing civil unrest in Haiti, we have made the decision to suspend all flights to and from the country,” the spokesperson said to Miami Herald. “We will continue to monitor the situation closely and update our plans as necessary.”
The suspension comes just a week before the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) flights ban to Haiti is set to end on March 12, 2025.
In December 2024, Haiti’s government reopened Toussaint Louverture International Airport after a month-long closure due to incidents of gunfire targeting aircraft.
The FAA has prohibited all US air carriers and commercial operators from flying into Port-au-Prince after multiple reports from US airlines, including Spirit Airlines, American Airlines and JetBlue Airways, of planes being hit by gunfire while flying in Haitian airspace.
As of January 23, 2025, US authorities reported that commercial air traffic at Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince “remained severely limited”. However, some commercial airlines are still operating daily flights between Cap-Haitien and Miami, Florida, as well as to other destinations in the Caribbean.
Currently, the situation in the country remains a cause of concern because of gang violence. The US Department of State advises US nationals not to travel to Haiti “due to kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and limited health care.” The post JetBlue extends flight suspension to Haiti until June 2025 over security issues appeared first on AeroTime.
