JetBlue’s JFK Terminal 5 to get a major refresh
New York’s JFK Terminal 5, known as being JetBlue’s terminal, is to receive a thorough refresh in the coming months.
The project was jointly announced on March 6, 2025, by JetBlue, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and Fraport USA, the subsidiary of the German airport and infrastructure firm that manages of JFK’s Terminal 5.
The facility will house 40 new retail and catering concessions, as well as new amenities to improve the passenger experience, plus a redesigned center concourse which will evoke New York’s most iconic parks through greenery, park benches and chess tables.
The new space will also feature art installations made by New York-based artists and offer a venue for pop-up installations and temporary exhibitions and events.
JetBlueAdjacent to TWA’s historical and very iconic terminal, Terminal 5 was opened in 2008 specifically for JetBlue. From and to it, the airline operates some 165 daily flights, carrying an average of approximately 35,000 passengers per day.
JFK’s Terminal 5 is the latest in a number of terminal renovations projects at New York’s main airport.
All of these projects, including the rebuilding of the New Terminal One and the redevelopment of Terminal 6, are part of a $19 billion project to uplift the passenger experience at the city’s main international gateway and make it more competitive with that offered by other major international hubs.
The JFK renovation project is in turn part of a much larger $37 billion investment plan led by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to significantly upgrade the entire airport infrastructure system serving the Greater New York City area within a period of 10 years. The renovation of Terminal B at La Guardia Airport (LGA) and the new Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) are also part of this initiative.
The renovation of JFK’s Terminal 5 is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. The post JetBlue’s JFK Terminal 5 to get a major refresh appeared first on AeroTime.
