JetSMART to lease two A321neo and one A320neo from BOC Aviation
Aircraft operating leasing company BOC Aviation announced that it has entered into an agreement with Airbus to purchase three aircraft, which include two A321NEO and one A320NEO.
The aircraft will be placed on long-term leases to JetSMART, a Chilean low-cost airline, the lessor said in a statement published on September 1, 2025.
According to Steven Townend, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of BOC Aviation, this is the third deal between the leasing company and the airline, allowing JetSMART to grow its presence in the Latin America market.
“With this agreement, we have demonstrated our ability to provide our customers with financing solutions to support their fleet expansion ambitions at multiple points in their growth trajectory,” Townend added.
JetSMART Chief Executive Officer and Founder Estuardo Ortiz said the addition of these aircraft helps the airline move closer to its aim of transporting 100 million passengers by 2028.
Additionally, the new deal with BOC Aviation aligns with the airline’s long-term growth strategy, which envisions a fleet of 120 aircraft by 2031, Ortiz said.
“It also reinforces our commitment to operating a modern, fuel-efficient, and environmentally responsible fleet across South America,” he added.
All aircraft will be equipped with Pratt & Whitney GTF engines and are expected to be delivered in 2027.
On June 5, 2025, Avianca, Colombia’s largest airline, made a deal with BOC Aviation to acquire nine Airbus A320neo aircraft powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines, with deliveries slated for 2027.
