Lufthansa announces anniversary fleet with special livery for 100-year milestone
Lufthansa has announced plans to paint six aircraft in a commemorative livery to mark the airline’s 100th anniversary in 2026, dating from the carrier’s founding in 1926.
The anniversary design features a white crane on a blue fuselage, with the bird’s wings extending onto the aircraft’s wings. Each plane will display “100” on the left side, “1926/2026” on the right, and an additional “100” on the underside.
Fleet selection and timeline
The first aircraft to receive the anniversary livery will be a new Boeing 787-9 named “Berlin” (registration D-ABPU), expected to arrive in Frankfurt in December 2025.Five additional aircraft types will also be painted: an Airbus A380, an A350-1000, an A350-900, an A320, and a Boeing 747-8.
The airline plans to apply the special livery gradually through 2025 and 2026, with all six aircraft expected to be in service by fall 2026.
The selection spans Lufthansa’s current fleet range, from the narrowbodyA320 used primarily on European routes to the widebody A380 and 747-8 deployed on long-haul international flights. The inclusion of both A350 variants reflects the airline’s recent fleet modernization efforts.Lufthansa said the anniversary livery will be visible on scheduled commercial flights throughout 2026, with the aircraft operating on its regular routes within Lufthansa’s network.
