Lufthansa Technik and Cathay sign landmark MRO deal for widebody fleet
Lufthansa Technik and Cathay Group have just entered a landmark maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) partnership.
Under the contract, Lufthansa Technik will exclusively provide Total Component Maintenance (TCM) to Cathay’s fleet of widebody Boeing aircraft for the next six years, which includes 52 B777 and 20 B747 planes.
By overseeing every aspect of component management, Lufthansa Technik said it can deliver consistent reliability and operational steadiness throughout the airline’s aircraft. According to the MRO provider, this tailored support solution, designed to meet Cathay Pacific’s specific needs, provides optimal flexibility while maximizing fleet availability and cost performance.
“Cathay has entrusted Lufthansa Technik with component maintenance for more than one-third of our fleet, marking a significant milestone that underscores our confidence in their technical expertise,” said Keith Brown, Director of Engineering at Cathay. “We look forward to fostering a strong and enduring collaboration that meets our fleet demands and operational priorities.”
“Standing here today in Hong Kong alongside our valued colleagues from Cathay to sign a contract of this scale is truly a highlight of the year for us,” said Dennis Kohr, Senior Vice President Corporate Sales Asia Pacific at Lufthansa Technik.
“This agreement marks a new milestone in our partnership and demonstrates the confidence Cathay places in our capabilities. We are sincerely grateful for this opportunity and look forward to expanding our partnership through this unique and comprehensive maintenance support program,” Kohr concluded.
