Magazine. “Planète Aéro” n°13
The quarterly, sister magazine to “Fana de l’Aviation”, devotes its March-April-May 2025 issue to a must-have in French aviation, the Mirage 2000D.
To mark the publication of its thirteenth issue, the editors of Planète Aéro (under the direction of Alexis Rocher, also editor-in-chief of “Fana de l’Aviation”) have decided to give the lion’s share of coverage to the Mirage 2000D, which has undergone major refurbishment to enable it to remain in operation alongside the Rafale – unlike the Mirage 2000-5F, which is due to retire. The editorial team recalls the history of this air-to-ground two-seater, launched in 1988 for day and night attack missions, but never offered for export (unlike the Mirage 2000E), for reasons of defence secrecy. In all, over fifty pages of the magazine are devoted to the Mirage-2000D! Calling all enthusiasts – and we know there are plenty of you!
Also in this spring issue, a report on the French air response to cyclone Chido, which devastated Mayotte at the end of 2024, with the deployment of an air bridge. There’s also a viewpoint by Bruno Etchenic on France’s place in the military air sector, at a time when the global situation seems uncertain, and a zoom on a brand-new aircraft from the USA, the supersonic Boom XB-1, which broke the sound barrier in the skies over California at the end of January.
