MC-130J carried out FARP hot refueling for F-16s at Misawa, Japan for the first time
For the first time, the U.S. Air Force’s 1st Special Operations Squadron has carried out a Forward area refueling point (FARP) training at Misawa Air Base, Japan with four F-16s assigned there.
The training was carried out while all aircraft engines were running. It is part of the Agile Combat Employment (ACE) concept to teach airmen how to refueling aircraft in austere environments.
Having access to FARP allows a fighter squadron to operate out of more locations.
