Paul Terstegge named Transavia CEO as airline pursues growth and sustainability
Transavia, a wholly owned subsidiary of Air France–KLM group, has named Paul Terstegge as its new CEO, replacing Marcel de Nooijer who led the company for six years.
In a statement, the low-cost airline announced that Terstegge will officially begin his role as CEO on February 1, 2026.
With the leadership change, Transavia said it will be taking “the next step in targeted growth, expansion of its European network, and the transition towards a quieter and cleaner future.”
“We warmly welcome Paul to Transavia,” said Jenny Elissen, Chair of Transavia’s Supervisory Board. “His deep and extensive national and international experience will be essential in Transavia’s next phase.”
Paul Terstegge has extensive experience in the aviation industry, from general management roles abroad to overseeing a large operational division at KLM.
He has also held strategic roles in Paris and various commercial positions within the Air France–KLM Group. Terstegge currently serves as Executive Vice President Inflight Services at KLM.
“Even without knowing everyone yet, I can see how much energy flows through the organization,” Terstegge said. “I look forward to making smart choices together, creating room for innovation, and continuing to ensure a pleasant and affordable journey for everyone who flies with us.”
During De Nooijer’s tenure, Transavia updated its fleet by switching from Boeing to Airbus aircraft, initiated CO2 reduction projects, and broadened its network with new destinations.
De Nooijer also worked with KLM to establish a new 7,000 square meters gas-free aircraft maintenance hangar at Schiphol-East, a business park and the original part of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS). The construction work of the facility started in April 2025. The post Paul Terstegge named Transavia CEO as airline pursues growth and sustainability appeared first on AeroTime.
