Polish Armed Forces finalizes $4.7B deal for 96 AH-64E Apache helicopters
The Polish Armed Forces has finalized an order for 96 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters from Boeing under a US government Foreign Military Sales contract worth nearly $4.7 billion.
According to a statement from the planemaker, this order marks the largest number of Apache aircraft ordered outside of the United States in the program’s history.
The Polish Ministry of National Defence (MND) is already in the process of training pilots and maintenance personnel for the attack helicopter. The MND currently leases eight helicopters from the US Army.
Christina Upah, Vice President of Boeing’s Attack Helicopter Programs, said the deal enables Boeing to start creating “one of the largest and most formidable Apache fleets that the world has ever seen”.
“Working closely with the Polish Armed Forces, we’re focused on disciplined execution to help enhance Poland’s defense capabilities and keep up with the strong demand for the most advanced attack helicopter,” Upah said.
As part of an offset agreement announced in August 2024 between Boeing and Poland’s Ministry of National Defence, Boeing said it will also assist in maintaining the Apache fleet, set up training programs, and help develop a composite laboratory in Poland.
The delivery of the 96 AH-64E Apache helicopters to the Polish Armed Forces is expected to begin in 2028.
The AH-64E Apache Guardian is the latest and most advanced variant of the Apache series, featuring enhanced engines and new composite rotor blades, offering superior combat capabilities.
Boeing said that the E-model Apache has developed into the “most proven, advanced configuration” that brings “lethality, survivability, connectivity and interoperability to the battlefield”.
In recent months, Boeing has delivered new Apaches to the Australian Army, Indian Army and Royal Moroccan Air Force. Poland is now the 19th global operator. There are currently more than 1,300 Apaches operating worldwide. The post Polish Armed Forces finalizes $4.7B deal for 96 AH-64E Apache helicopters appeared first on AeroTime.
