TECNAM AIRCRAFT UNVEILS “MOSAIK59” PRODUCT LINE
READY TO LEAD THE NEW ERA OF LIGHT AVIATION UNDER FAA’S MOSAIC RULES
CAPUA, ITALY – Tecnam Aircraft has announced its full readiness to lead the transformative new era of flight brought about by the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification (MOSAIC) regulations. To meet the demands of this historic regulatory shift, Tecnam is proud to introduce MOSAIK59, a dedicated product family engineered specifically to maximize the new privileges available to Sport Pilots and the wider aviation community.
The MOSAIC rules fundamentally redefine the concept of Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) by replacing rigid weight limits with performance-based criteria, including the allowance of four-seat aircraft, retractable landing gear, constant-speed propellers, and multi-engine configurations.
“When we read the Rule for the first time, we thought it was shaped around our mission, now more than ever confirmed: making flying easier, safer, and accessible for everyone,” said Giovanni Pascale Langer, Managing Director at Tecnam S.p.A. “MOSAIC opens a new era of opportunities across the aviation community. Tecnam is ready to tailor our most trusted platforms to help more people access aviation with plug-and-play solutions. “Your Ambition. Our Wings” is now stronger than ever with MOSAIC.”
Introducing MOSAIK59 The name MOSAIK59 is a fusion of two core principles guiding Tecnam’s engineering:
- M.O.S.A.I.: Modular Optimized Sport Aviation Initiative – A commitment to modular design allowing aircraft to adapt to diverse missions, from primary flight training to high-performance cross-country travel.
- K59: Represents the 59-knot clean stall speed, the critical performance metric defined by the FAA that unlocks the ability for Sport Pilots to operate more capable, higher-performance, and multi-seat aircraft.
With the new regulations lifting the previous 1,320 lb weight limit, Tecnam’s MOSAIK59 product line represents the most comprehensive and versatile fleet in the industry:
- P92 Echo MKII: The most accessible entry point to the Tecnam family. Perfectly aligned with MOSAIC standards, it retains a proven 1,320 lb takeoff weight combined with the unmatched efficiency of the Rotax 912iS engine.
- P2008 Next Generation: Evolved to take full advantage of the removal of weight limits. With an increased Maximum Takeoff Weight (MTOW), pilots can now fly with full fuel and two adults onboard with room to spare. Customers can choose between the high-performance Rotax 916iS or the proven 912iS, with an optional airframe parachute system available.
- Astore GT: The pinnacle of the MOSAIK59 lineup. This relaunched low-wing beauty is powered by the 160 HP Rotax 916iS and features an in-house developed air conditioning system and an optional airframe parachute for ultimate peace of mind.
- P2010: Through aerodynamic refinements, the renowned P2010 now meets the 59-knot stall requirement. For the first time, Sport Pilots can command a fully certified four-seat aircraft (limited to one passenger), powered by either Lycoming engines or the Jet-A1 Continental CD-170.
- P2006T NG: Bringing multi-engine redundancy to the Light Sport category. The Part 22 MOSAIC version is fully compliant with the 59-knot stall speed rule, allowing flight schools and private owners to operate a certified twin under Sport Pilot privileges.
Empowering Pilots and Flight Schools
The MOSAIC rule—with additional privileges for Sport Pilots taking effect in October 2025 and new Part 22 LSA registrations starting in July 2026—will revolutionize the industry. Sport Pilots will now enjoy the massive payload of a 4-seater aircraft (when used with two occupants) and the safety of twin-engine operations.
For flight schools, Tecnam’s MOSAIK59 fleet provides the ability to offer faster, more affordable training programs. Flight academies can attract a wider base of students by lowering entry barriers while seamlessly transitioning them from primary trainers to complex, multi-engine, and IFR-capable aircraft—all within the same manufacturer’s ecosystem.
