TECNAM Receives EASA Type Certificate for the New P2008JC NG and Celebrates First Delivery at AERO 2026

Historic dual ceremony marks the arrival of the “Next Generation” trainer, setting a new benchmark for flight schools with its EASA CS-23 Amendment 6 certification.
FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – April 23, 2026 – During a special event today at the AERO Friedrichshafen exhibition, Tecnam celebrated a monumental double milestone for the company and its in-house training division. The Type Certificate for the new P2008JC NG (Next Generation) was officially handed over by Florian Guillermet, Executive Director of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Immediately following the EASA presentation, Paolo Pascale Langer, CEO of Tecnam, officially handed over the keys of the very first aircraft to his daughter, Carolina Pascale Langer, Accountable Manager of the Tecnam Flight Academy.
This emotional sequence of events not only marks the official entry into service of a revolutionary aircraft for Flight Training Organizations (FTOs) worldwide but also represents the Pascale family’s enduring dedication to aviation.
A Leap in Safety: The CS-23 Amendment 6 Advantage
The most significant evolution of the P2008JC NG is its certification. Transitioning from the previous CS-VLA (Very Light Aircraft) category, the new P2008JC NG is certified to the rigorous EASA CS-23 Amendment 6 airworthiness standards.
This places the P2008JC NG in the highest safety tier for General Aviation aircraft. The Amendment 6 standards drastically enhance the aircraft’s safety characteristics, specifically at very low speeds, the most critical envelope for ab-initio training. This certification provides flight schools with superior safety margins, enhanced operational flexibility, and long-term asset value that legacy VLA trainers simply cannot match.
The “No Compromise” Hybrid Trainer
The P2008JC NG stands alone in the market by retaining Tecnam’s signature Hybrid Airframe Technology. It pairs a sleek, carbon-fibre fuselage, offering a wide, automotive-style cabin for superior student comfort—with robust, easy-to-repair all-metal wings and stabilator, perfectly designed to withstand the daily rigors of flight school operations and “hangar rash.”
Unbeatable Efficiency with the Rotax 912 iSc2
Powered by the state-of-the-art Rotax 912 iSc2 fuel-injected engine, the P2008JC NG is a game-changer for flight school economics and sustainability. Consuming just 14 liters per hour (3.7 USG/h) and capable of running on automotive fuels, it burns up to 58% less fuel than legacy AvGas trainers, drastically cutting CO2 emissions and operating costs.
To prepare students for modern commercial aviation, the aircraft features a state-of-the-art Garmin G3X Touch glass cockpit, alongside Next Generation upgrades including a redesigned central console, a modern window design, improved 3-point safety belts with inertial reels, and an optional autopilot for advanced training procedures.

“Receiving the EASA Type Certificate today and immediately handing the keys of our newest P2008JC NG to Carolina to serve the Tecnam Flight Academy is a profoundly proud moment,” said Paolo Pascale Langer, Tecnam CEO.
“The P2008JC NG represents a significant leap in training safety. By certifying to the latest CS-23 Amendment 6 standards, we have created an aircraft that works hard, consumes little, and inspires absolute confidence for the next generation of aviators.” Added Giovanni Pascale Langer, Tecnam Managing Director.
Carolina Pascale Langer, Accountable Manager of the Tecnam Flight Academy, added: “Integrating the P2008JC NG into our fleet is a thrilling step forward. Alongside our P-Mentor, it creates a fully standardized, injected Rotax-powered fleet. The combination of the CS-23 safety standards, the advanced Garmin avionics, and this incredible efficiency gives our instructors and students the ultimate platform to train safely and effectively for modern airline careers.”
