Textron Aviation installs Elon Musk’s Starlink internet on Cessna Sovereign jets
Textron Aviation has revealed that Starlink, the satellite Wi-Fi service from Elon Musk’s space company SpaceX, is now accessible to flyers on its Cessna Citation Sovereign and Sovereign+ aircraft.
The announcement follows the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) approval of AeroMech’s Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for Starlink’s high-speed internet service, the company confirmed in a statement on July 10, 2025.
AeroMech’s STC utilizes Starlink’s constellation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites to provide internet connectivity over land, water and remote areas, where traditional in-flight Wi-Fi might not be available.
“We invest in product upgrades based on customer feedback, and they have been asking for the best in-flight connectivity options,” said Brian Rohloff, Senior Vice President of Customer Support at Textron. “We continue to expand our list of connectivity upgrades available for our customers.”
According to Textron, customers have the option to arrange for the upgrade to be installed at Textron Aviation Service Centers in North America and certain International Service Centers.
Currently, major airlines like United Airlines, Qatar Airways, WestJet and Air France are using Starlink for in-flight internet.
On July 10, 2025, Qatar Airways revealed that it had completed installation of Starlink Wi-Fi on its entire fleet of Boeing 777s. According to the airline, 54 Boeing 777 aircraft now have been equipped with Starlink Wi-Fi service, which is available for free to all passengers.
