TUI fly Boeing 737-8 painted with special livery in tribute to 50-year history
A Boeing 737 MAX 8 operated by TUI fly Deutschland has been painted with a special livery as the company celebrates its 50-year history.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8 was presented to around 300 guests at Hanover Airport (HAJ) in Germany before taking off for Fuerteventura Airport (FUE) on May 8, 2024, with 180 passengers onboard.
The new livery is split into three sections with the colors of TUI fly in the front fuselage area, HLX in the middle and Hapag-Lloyd Flug at the tail.
In 2007 the German airlines Hapag-Lloyd Flug and Hapag-Lloyd Express (HLX) merged to form TUI fly, which in turn is a subsidiary of TUI Group.
According to TUI, the Boeing 737-8 only arrived back in Germany from the paint shop in Norwich, United Kingdom (UK), on May 7, 2024.
The medium-haul aircraft, registered D-AMAH, has been named “Fuerteventura” with an official ceremony planned later this year in the Canary Islands.

“For 50 years, flights with TUI fly have guaranteed a successful start to your holiday. Together with my colleagues at TUI fly, I am pleased that we can now launch a flying ambassador who will visualize developments since the 1970s,” TUI CEO Sebastian Ebel said during the presentation of the aircraft at Hanover Airport.
The 737-8 joined TUI fly in November 2023 in a neutral, white livery and required around 380 liters of paint, hardener and thinner for the new livery.
“Although there have been many special paint jobs at TUI fly in recent years, none have been this impressive. For anyone like me who personally experienced and shaped the journey from Hapag-Lloyd via HLX and now to TUI fly, the presentation is a very emotional moment,” TUI fly Managing Director Michael Garvens said.
