Turkish Airlines strikes Boeing deal with up to 225 aircraft negotiated
Turkish Airlines has confirmed in an announcement to its investors that it has negotiated an order with US manufacturer Boeing for up to 225 aircraft.
On September 26, 2025, the Turkish flag carrier said that its Board of Directors had placed a firm order for 50 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, consisting of both 787-8s and 787-9s, with options for 25 more.
“Negotiations with Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace regarding the procurement of engines, spare engines, and engine maintenance services for these aircraft are ongoing,” wrote Turkish Airlines.
Boeing later confirmed in its own press release that the deal includes 35 of the 787-9 model and 15 of the larger 787-10.

He added: “The addition of these advanced Boeing aircraft to our fleet will not only enhance our operational capabilities but also become a significant element supporting Turkish Airlines’ 2033 Vision of expanding our fleet to 800 aircraft.”
In addition, Turkish Airlines has agreed with Boeing to buy 100 737 MAX jets, comprised of 737-8s and 737-10s, with an option for 50 further planes in the future.
While the airline confirmed talks with Boeing over the MAX jets had concluded the final order was subject to ongoing negotiations with engine manufacturer CFM International.
Once finalized, the 737 MAX order will be Turkish Airlines’ largest Boeing single-aisle order.
“We are honored that Turkish Airlines has once again chosen the 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX to power its future growth,” said Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Delivery of the 787 Dreamliners has been scheduled for between 2029 and 2026, however there were no final details on delivery of the Boeing 737s.
“With these orders, our entire fleet is targeted to consist of new-generation aircraft by 2035, thereby strengthening operational efficiency and supporting an average annual growth rate of around 6%,” wrote Turkish Airlines.
The carrier added: “As part of the growth objectives set out in our Strategic Plan, which aims to generate significant value for all stakeholders.”
On September 25, 2025, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump met for talks at the White House. A widely speculated deal for F-16 fighter jets has yet to materialize.
According to data from ch-aviation, Turkish Airlines already operates 22 Boeing 787-9s and 25 Boeing 737-8s. The 737-10 is yet to be certified.
