Ukraine Begins Mass Production of SkyFall 600 km Strike Drone as JetKiller Shahed Interceptor Debuts

Ukrainian defense manufacturer SkyFall has begun serial production of an unnamed one-way attack drone with a 600 km range, a 40–50 kg warhead, and an estimated cost of $25,000–$30,000 per unit, according to specifications published by Bloomberg. The weapon gives Ukraine a lower-cost option for striking targets at operational depth while preserving more expensive missiles for higher-priority missions.
SkyFall has also unveiled the P1-SUN JetKiller interceptor to counter faster Russian jet-powered Shahed variants that are shortening air-defense reaction times. Together, the two systems aim to expand Ukraine’s long-range strike capacity while reducing the cost of protecting cities, military sites and energy infrastructure from sustained drone attacks.

The strike drone has a wingspan of 3.5 meters and can carry a fragmentation, high-explosive fragmentation, or mission-specific warhead weighing between 40 and 50 kg. SkyFall has not disclosed whether this figure represents the complete warhead assembly or the explosive filling alone, and it has released no information on explosive composition, fragmentation casing, fuze type, impact angle, circular error probable, or terminal guidance. Those omissions prevent a reliable assessment of lethality against hardened targets. A fragmentation warhead would principally increase the number and distribution of high-velocity fragments against exposed equipment, antenna arrays, parked aircraft, trucks, or personnel. A high-explosive fragmentation warhead would produce a stronger blast effect against warehouses, workshops, command posts, and fuel-handling equipment. Still, a 40–50 kg warhead should not automatically be treated as a bunker-penetrating weapon. Its effect against reinforced concrete would depend on accuracy, fuze delay, casing design, and whether the munition can strike at an angle favorable to penetration.
The disclosed range places the aircraft above short-range loitering munitions and below Ukraine’s larger long-range attack drones intended for targets more than 1,000 km from their launch areas. A 600 km reach is sufficient for attacks against command-and-control sites, ammunition storage facilities, air-defense radars, aviation support infrastructure and transport nodes throughout occupied Ukrainian territory and in parts of Russia adjoining the theater. Its military utility, however, cannot be established from range and warhead weight alone. SkyFall has not identified the propulsion system, cruise speed, flight altitude, launch arrangement, navigation package, datalink or counter-jamming provisions. These characteristics determine whether the drone can follow low-altitude routes, operate without continuous satellite navigation, accept targeting updates, approach from multiple directions or maintain accuracy after exposure to electronic warfare.
SkyFall estimates the aircraft’s price at $25,000–$30,000 and says it intends to reach production capacity of 1,000 units per month by the end of 2026. At that stated output, monthly procurement would represent approximately $25–$30 million and a theoretical aggregate warhead capacity of 40–50 metric tons, assuming every aircraft were completed, purchased and equipped at the disclosed weight. The corresponding acquisition cost is roughly $500–$750 for each kilogram of warhead carried, before accounting for launch equipment, communications, intelligence support, maintenance, failed launches and losses to air defenses. This calculation does not measure cost-effectiveness, because an aircraft that misses or is intercepted delivers no military effect. SkyFall says the drone is already supplied to Ukrainian forces, has been used successfully and is supported by international contracts, but it has not published the number delivered, targets attacked, hit rate or independently verifiable damage assessments.
The P1-SUN JetKiller addresses a narrower defensive requirement. SkyFall states that the interceptor reaches 370 km/h, compared with 310 km/h for the baseline P1-SUN, and has a maximum range of 30 km, a ceiling of 9,000 meters, endurance of up to 15 minutes, and a 500-gram warhead. It can be configured with analog or digital day and thermal cameras, while an automated terminal-guidance module reportedly detects and locks onto an aerial target at up to one kilometer. SkyFall has not disclosed the interceptor’s propulsion arrangement, climb rate, acceleration, warhead fragmentation pattern, fuze, or whether destruction is achieved by direct impact or detonation at a specified miss distance. The company’s statement that the aircraft does not overheat during straight-line flight is operationally relevant because sustained high power is a limiting factor for small electrically powered interceptors, but it does not establish how long the maximum speed can be maintained during climb and maneuver.
The published figures show why interception geometry is more important than maximum speed. At 370 km/h, JetKiller would cover 30 km in approximately 4.9 minutes if it maintained its maximum speed, leaving a limited part of its 15-minute endurance for climb, positioning, and correction of an unsuccessful approach. Against the Geran-4, which Ukrainian military intelligence lists at 320 km/h, JetKiller has a nominal 50 km/h speed advantage; from one kilometer behind, closing that distance would take about 72 seconds, excluding maneuver and acceleration. The larger Geran-5 is listed at 450–600 km/h, with a 90 kg warhead, 950 km range, and 6,000-meter ceiling. JetKiller cannot conduct a sustained rear-aspect pursuit against an aircraft moving at those speeds and must instead be positioned for a crossing or head-on attack using external radar, acoustic, or visual tracking.
In a head-on engagement, the combined closing speed between a 370 km/h interceptor and a Geran-5 traveling at 450–600 km/h would be 820–970 km/h. Once JetKiller’s automated guidance acquired the target at the stated one-kilometer range, only about 3.7–4.4 seconds would remain before contact. This explains the requirement for automated terminal tracking, but it also places considerable demands on target classification, control latency, and maneuver authority. SkyFall says JetKiller destroyed more than a dozen jet-powered Shaheds during combat testing and plans to begin mass production in August 2026. The company also claims that the standard P1-SUN has destroyed more than 5,500 drones since November 2025 and that it can manufacture 50,000 interceptors per month; Reuters could not independently verify those figures.
The two SkyFall aircraft therefore address different parts of Ukraine’s strike-defense balance. The 600 km drone is intended to impose repeated losses on targets beyond artillery range at a unit cost low enough to support larger salvos. In contrast, JetKiller is intended to reserve scarce surface-to-air missiles for aircraft, cruise missiles, and ballistic threats. Neither system can be evaluated solely from manufacturer specifications. The relevant measures are confirmed target damage, accuracy under electronic attack, sortie generation rate, interception probability, operator workload, and the proportion of production reaching combat units. Those data have not been released, making the disclosed systems important industrial developments but not yet sufficient evidence of a measurable change in the air campaign.
