United Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 veers off taxiway at Houston Airport
A Boeing 737 MAX 8 belonging to United Airlines ran off the taxiway after landing at Houston-George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) on March 8, 2024, and came to a stop with its left wing leaning into the grass.
The aircraft, registration N27290 and operating as United Flight 2477, had 160 passengers and six crew members onboard and landed at 08:00 local time. The US National Weather Service reported heavy precipitation in the area, with thunderstorms expected.
According to United, the airplane exited the taxiway and came to a stop in a grassy area after landing. None of the passengers or crew members were injured. The occupants used airstairs to deplane. The Federal Aviation Administration and the US National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
