Unum unveils launch customers for state-of-the-art business class seat
UK-based aircraft seating startup Unum has announced Spanish airline Wamos Air and Angolan flag carrier TAAG as the two launch customers for its new Unum One business class seat.
The announcement was made during the Aircraft Interiors Expo, which takes place April 7-9, 2025, in Hamburg, Germany.
The Unum One seat is a newly developed lie-flat business class seat which is currently undergoing its certification process. Deliveries to both launch airlines are expected to start in 2026.
Unum was started in 2020 by airline industry veteran Chris Brady who had previously founded and sold Acro Aircraft Seating, another aircraft seat maker. Upon exiting his previous venture, Brady spotted an opportunity to develop a new generation of business class seats which placed simplicity at its core without compromising passengers’ comfort.
The Unum One design does away with non-essential elements, while offering a large number of adjustability options. These include the seat’s signature “Zero G position”, which places the feet in a slightly elevated position relative to the body, similar to the position sometimes adopted by astronauts when in a space capsule.
AeroTime had the opportunity to see and experience the different features of the Unum One seat in February 2024 during a visit to the company’s new industrial facility near London Gatwick airport (LGW), in England.

The new seat will debut on two different types of long-haul aircraft, with Wamos Air planning to add it to its A330-200 aircraft, while TAAG will showcase the seat on its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.
“After extensive evaluation, we selected the Unum One herringbone layout due to its suitability for our operational requirements. Our customers will value the full flat, direct aisle layout, and superior passenger experience, while the seat will offer a reduced cost of ownership due to its lightweight design and ease of maintenance,” stated Enrique Saiz, CEO of Wamos Air in a press release announcing the selection.
TAAG plans to roll out the Unum One seat fitted with a Panasonic Avionics in-flight entertainment system, with Boeing Global Services taking care of the cabin integration project.
