UPDATED: Is drone maker Baykar about to launch a cargo airline? What we know so far

Turkish drone maker Baykar could be preparing its entry into the air cargo market, according to Turkish aviation journalist Tolga Ozbek, who has shared some details on his website. 

While no official announcement has been made, as of August 10, 2026, Baykar’s website is advertising a number of job openings which appear connected to the launch of a new airline. This includes pilots and first officers as well as other profiles specifically related to the operation of an air cargo business, such as loading specialists and experts in the transportation of dangerous goods. 

According to the information published on Tolga Ozbek’s website, the new air cargo airline will be operating Airbus A321 P2F freighters (Passenger-to-Freight conversions), with the capability to carry up to 28 tons of cargo. 

This aircraft type is currently used in the Turkish market by BBN Airlines Türkiye, which is part of Avia Solutions Group’s portfolio of cargo airlines. 

Baykar appears to have deleted the job vacancies from its website shortly after these reports came out. However, AeroTime reached out to Tolga Ozbek, who shared some screenshots taken on August 7, 2026, from Baykar’s Turkish language careers side showing some of the advertised roles. The Turkish journalist also stated that these may be soon re-published and that Baykar is indeed looking for cargo aircraft to either dry or wet lease.
