Vietnam Airlines resumes twice-weekly Hanoi-Moscow flights after three years
Vietnam Airlines has returned to Russia with the resumption of direct flights between Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) and Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO).
The nine-hour nonstop flight resumed on May 8, 2025, three years after the route was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The inaugural flight, VN 63 was serviced by the Vietnam flag carrier’s Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, and had 100% passenger capacity level.
The flight operates twice a week every Tuesdays and Thursdays, but will be increased to thrice-weekly by July 2026.
Accorring to local media outlet VNExpress, Russia remains one of Vietnam’s key tourism markets. In 2024, passenger traffic between the two countries exceeded 220,000, a 2.3-fold increase from 2023.
Two days after the resumption of the Hanoi-Moscow, Vietnam Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Russia’s state-owned VTB Bank.
Under the MoU, the two companies will explore solutions to promote cultural exchanges, enhance tourism support, and seek more cooperation opportunities in the future.
