Volaris passenger tries to divert domestic flight in Mexico to US by force
A 31-year-old Volaris passenger has been arrested after he tried to divert a domestic flight in Mexico to the United States (US) by force.
In a statement on December 8, 2024, Volaris said that the passenger was traveling on a flight from Guanajuato International Airport (BJX) to Tijuana International Airport (TIJ) when the incident unfolded.
The Mexican Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection provided further details claiming that the passenger had assaulted a cabin crew member and attempted to enter the cockpit to divert the plane.
The 31-year-old man, named as “Mario N”, was subdued and the Volaris pilots issued an alert then diverted the Airbus A320-200 to Guadalajara International Airport (GDL).
