Cyberattack triggers partial shutdown at French aerospace supplier
French aerospace and defense electronics supplier Egide has partially suspended operations at its manufacturing plant in Bollène, southern France, after a cyberattack involving an external IT service provider.
The attack occurred on October 6, 2026, and was detected by the service provider, according to an Egide statement. The company said the intrusion may have affected certain systems at the Bollène facility, prompting a partial suspension of operations as a precaution.
Egide’s technical teams took steps to contain the incident and limit its impact. The company also brought in external cybersecurity specialists and began working with the affected provider.
Extent of cyberattack and potential data exposure remain unclear
Egide’s investigation is focused on determining the nature and scope of potentially affected data. The company has notified the relevant authorities, including France’s data protection regulator, the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés (CNIL), and filed a complaint with judicial authorities.
As of October 14, 2026, Egide had not published a further update on the incident. AeroTime sent a request for comment.
Why Egide’s French plant matters to aerospace and defense
Egide manufactures hermetically sealed packages designed to protect sensitive electronic components from moisture, contamination and harsh operating conditions.
Its components are used in aircraft engine sensors, braking systems, radar equipment, electronic warfare systems and thermal imaging devices. Egide supplies manufacturers involved in both civilian and military aviation, as well as space programs.
The Bollène facility houses the group’s headquarters and French manufacturing operations. It specializes in ceramic-to-metal and glass-to-metal sealing technologies, including high-temperature co-fired ceramics used in demanding electronic applications. Egide’s other manufacturing site is located in Cambridge, Maryland.
The company has been refocusing on defense and aerospace markets, with its French operation entering the second half of 2026 with a strong order backlog. The post Cyberattack triggers partial shutdown at French aerospace supplier appeared first on AeroTime.
