EVE Air Mobility signs major eVTOL deal in Costa Rica
EVE Air Mobility, Embraer’s eVTOL arm, has announced a tri-partite agreement with advanced air mobility operator Aerosolutions and Bluenest, a subsidiary of Spanish infrastructure management firm Globalvia, to develop eVTOL operations in Costa Rica.
As per the terms of this agreement, Aerosolutions has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) for 50 of EVE’s eVTOLs, while Bluenest sets up of a network of vertiports throughout the northwestern regions of Costa Rica.
The business case for this project rests upon the opportunity to service the country’s burgeoning high-end eco-tourism industry. The area of operations will initially be focused on the areas near the Pacific coast of the Central American country, connecting airports to nature resorts within a 20 to 50 kilometers radius.
The fact that Globalvia has already a significant presence in the Costa Rican infrastructure sector, where it manages the A27 motorway, is expected to facilitate the roll out of the advanced air mobility infrastructure. Additionally, it should facilitate the establishment of air-ground multi-modal transportation nodes.
Also included in the contract is access to EVE’s TechCare service package. In a recent conversation with AeroTime, EVE’s Chief Commercial Officer, Megha Bhatia, explained that the advanced air mobility firm was planning to leverage the service network and customer care expertise of its parent company, aircraft maker Embraer, in order to differentiate itself within eVTOL market.
Bluenest has already conducted eVTOL flight tests at Guanacaste Airport (LIR), in this same region of Western Costa Rica, in March 2024. On that occasion, the aircraft to be used for the tests was a two-seater pilotless EHang EH-216. The post EVE Air Mobility signs major eVTOL deal in Costa Rica appeared first on AeroTime.
