Avianca opens temporary Bogota-Valencia service in response to Venezuela quake
Avianca has launched temporary flights between Bogota and Valencia, Venezuela, and is matching mileage donations from its loyalty program members as part of its response to the earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24, 2026.
The airline announced on June 28, 2026, that it will operate two daily flights on the Bogota-Valencia route through July 10, 2026 with the possibility of extending service depending on how the situation develops.
The temporary route was established while operations at Simon Bolívar International Airport (CCS) in Maiquetía, which serves Caracas, remain disrupted.
Temporary flight details
Avianca is using Airbus A320 aircraft on the route, with schedules similar to its regular Bogota-Caracas service. The flights will accommodate passengers with existing tickets while providing additional options for those needing to travel during the emergency.
Tickets are available at special fares through avianca.com, the Avianca mobile app, the airline’s contact center, retail locations, and travel agencies.
Gabriel Oliva, Avianca’s President, said the airline is committed to supporting those affected.
“We continue to stand in solidarity with the people of Venezuela and everyone who needs to travel to or from the country,” Oliva said. “This daily service to Valencia builds on the efforts carried out in coordination with authorities, governments and social impact partners to transport rescue teams and humanitarian aid in support of the emergency response.”
Humanitarian efforts
Beyond commercial flights, Avianca is coordinating the transportation of rescue workers, medical personnel, emergency response teams, and humanitarian cargo. Partners in the effort include the Colombian Red Cross, Ruta Animal, ABACO, and the Colombian Civil Air Patrol.
The airline has also launched a mileage donation campaign through its Lifemiles loyalty program. From June 26 through July 10, Avianca and Lifemiles will match every mile donated by members, doubling contributions to help cover transportation for rescue and medical teams. There is no minimum donation requirement.
Passenger protection measures
Avianca is also offering travel protection options for passengers holding tickets dated between June 24 and July 15, 2026. Eligible travelers may change their travel date for flights through August 31, 2026, without fees or fare differences. They may also switch their route to Valencia, Cucuta, or Riohacha at no additional cost, or request a full refund for unused flight segments.
The airline is encouraging customers to monitor its official channels for updates as the situation in Venezuela continues to develop.
