Boeing signs agreement with Air Senegal for nine 737 MAX jets at Dubai Airshow
Boeing has reached an agreement with Air Senegal to purchase nine 737 MAX 8 jets, in what is the largest aeronautical contract in Senegal’s history.
At a press event at the Dubai Airshow on November 17, 2025, Boeing and Air Senegal confirmed the two parties had signed a letter of intent (LOI) as a preliminary understanding. Included in the agreement was the option for six further Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
Air Senegal said the agreement is not just about buying aircraft but expanding the aviation ecosystem in Senegal.
Air Senegal plans to expand its network in Europe and launch new routes from Dakar to the Middle East and Americas. The 737 MAX will also enable Air Senegal to serve secondary European cities, allowing fliers to save time bypassing major hubs.
“This strategic decision is fully aligned with our ambition to modernize our fleet, strengthen our operational performance and support the expansion of our regional and international network,” Tidiane Ndiaye, CEO of Air Senegal, said. “This acquisition reflects Air Sénégal’s commitment to offering our passengers a more reliable, more comfortable and more sustainable travel experience, while consolidating Dakar’s position as a leading aviation hub in West Africa.”
AeroTimeThe signing ceremony took place in the presence of Senegal’s Minister of Land and Air Transport, Yankoba Diémé and Brad McMullen, Boeing’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing.
“We look forward to welcoming Air Senegal to the 737 MAX family as they leverage the versatility, reliability and advanced technology of the 737-8 to support their growth ambitions,” said McMullen. “We are committed to sustainable development of air travel in the region and will partner with Air Senegal as they enhance their fleet and passenger experience.”
