LOT Polish Airlines expands fleet with two new Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners
Poland’s Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak has announced that LOT Polish Airlines has expanded its fleet by acquiring two additional Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.
“In the face of global challenges related to the availability of wide-body aircraft, this success opens up new expansion opportunities for PLL LOT in line with its adopted development strategy,” Klimczak said in a post on X on March 27, 2025.
The new aircraft will allow for an increase in long-haul flights and the introduction of new routes planned through 2028, he added.
Michał Fijoł, President of the Management Board of LOT Polish Airlines, told local media outlet Rynek Lotniczy that the delivery of the two aircraft is expected next year.
“The value of such a contract is counted in hundreds of millions of zlotys, but less than one billion. These two aircraft will be acquired in the operating lease formula,” Fijoł said.
The two aircraft will be leased for 12 years from DP Aircraft. Currently, these Dreamliners are operated by Thai Airways. LOT will spend approximately $167.63 million for their operating lease.
Currently, LOT’s long-haul fleet consists of 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, including eight in the 787-8 version and seven in the 787-9 version.
In total, the carrier’s current fleet takes in 83 aircraft, serving 98 routes to 89 destinations across 50 countries. Long-haul destinations include cities in the United States, Canada, China, Japan, and South Korea.
