According to Bloomberg, sources have told the publication that against the rising costs of fuels cause by the Iran war, Spirit Airlines’ days could be numbered.
On April 15, 2026, Bloomberg reported that a potential liquidation could rear its head as early as this week, although the situation is fluid and there are ongoing discussions with creditors.
In the last big update from Spirit on March 13, 2026, the airline said it expected to emerge from Chapter 11 by early summer.

In November 2024, the carrier filed for Chapter 11 for the first time but emerged in March 2025 after restructuring parts of its debts.
