Air Peace takes delivery of first Embraer E175 to boost West Africa connectivity
Embraer has delivered the first brand-new E175 aircraft to Air Peace, expanding the Nigerian carrier’s fleet as it looks to strengthen regional connectivity across West Africa.
The delivery, announced on June 30, 2026, adds a new aircraft type to Air Peace’s existing Embraer lineup, which already includes the larger E195-E2 and the smaller ERJ145.
Air Peace is Nigeria’s largest airline and the leading carrier in West and Central Africa. Since launching in 2014, the airline has built a fleet that includes Boeing 777s for long-haul routes, Boeing 737s, and several Embraer models.

The E175 is designed for thin and medium-density routes, offering fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and operational flexibility. Embraer says the aircraft is well suited for markets where larger jets may not be economically viable.
Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, said the delivery reflects continued demand for aircraft that balance capacity and efficiency.
“This delivery highlights the continued demand for right-sized aircraft, with airlines seeking to expand connectivity while maintaining high levels of efficiency and service,” Meijer said.
Dr. Allen Onyema, Chairman and CEO of Air Peace, said the E175 supports the airline’s growth strategy.
“As we strengthen our leadership in West and Central Africa, this aircraft will increase our operational flexibility and market reach, all while maintaining the safety, reliability, and excellent service our passengers expect,” Onyema said.
Connecting underserved routes
Africa’s aviation sector is expected to see long-term growth driven by population expansion, urbanization, and rising travel demand.
According to Embraer’s 2026 Africa Connectivity Report, 55 intra-African city pairs still lack direct air services, up from 45 in 2025.
With the E175, Air Peace plans to increase flight frequencies on key Nigerian routes and introduce new services to four additional African cities.
The airline has been expanding its network in recent years, launching direct services to London, flights to the Caribbean including Antigua and Barbados, and receiving regulatory approval to begin service to Brazil.
