Airbus opens 10th A320 final assembly line at repurposed Toulouse A380 facility
Airbus has opened its 10th A320 family final assembly line (FAL) at the repurposed Toulouse facility where the iconic A380 superjumbo was built.
The new final assembly line is also the second to be inaugurated at the Jean-Luc Lagardère facility in France.
On June 15, 2026, the European planemaker held a special opening ceremony to celebrate the milestone hosted by Guillaume Faury, Airbus CEO, and Lars Wagner, CEO of Commercial Aircraft.
Airbus final assembly lines now include four in Hamburg, Germany, two in Mobile, United States two in Tianjin, China, and two in Toulouse.
“This facility provides the necessary flexibility and capacity to meet strong market demand, especially for the A321neo, and supports our production ramp-up trajectory towards 75 A320 Family aircraft a month,” Faury said. “Operating in coordination with our assembly sites in Hamburg, Mobile and Tianjin, this advanced line is part of our commitment to deliver aircraft of the highest quality standards to our customers globally.”
Lars Wagner / AirbusLocated alongside the initial line inaugurated in July 2023 within the former A380 Jean-Luc Lagardère building, Airbus said the “facility maximizes the existing footprint while integrating digital controls, automated logistics, and robotics to optimize workflows and workstation ergonomics”.
Airbus aims to reach between 70 and 75 aircraft a month for the A320 family by the end of 2027, stabilizing at rate 75 thereafter.
To achieve the production ramp-up trajectory, Airbus has already expanded capabilities at Mobile and Tianjin.
Currently around 700 Airbus employees are assigned on the first line. Once the second is up to full capacity, nearly 1,500 people will work across both.
The two A320 family lines are located in the central hangar, which stretches 490 meters long, 250 meters wide, and 46 meters high.
Commenting on LinkedIn, Wagner said: “Beyond the industrial milestone, today is ultimately about our people. Walking the floor and speaking with our teams who are building our aircraft here was an energizing experience. It was the dedication, skills and collective spirit of #TeamAirbus that brought this facility to life.”
He added: “A massive ‘Merci et bravo’ to the talented people in Toulouse and across our global network who keep us moving forward!”
